Orange Romania Data Breach (2025)

The data included 556k email addresses (of which hundreds of thousands were in the form of [phone number]@as1.romtelecom.net), phone numbers, subscription details, partial credit card data (type, last 4 digits, expiration date and issuing bank). The breach also exposed an extensive number of internal documents.

On February 24, 2025, the Romanian telecommunications provider Orange Romania had data on 557,000 customers published to a popular hacking forum. The exposed information includes email addresses, phone numbers, subscription details, and partial credit card data such as card type, last four digits, expiration date, and issuing bank. Hundreds of thousands of the email addresses follow the pattern of a phone number followed by @as1.romtelecom.net. The leak also includes an extensive set of internal company documents.

What's Publicly Reported from Reporting

Public reporting from Have I Been Pwned confirms the breach occurred in February 2025 and was later posted on a well-known hacking forum. The dataset contains 556,000 email addresses, a large volume of Romanian phone numbers, and detailed subscription records. Partial credit card information affects a subset of the records, limited to card type, last four digits, expiry, and the issuing bank. Internal documents that accompanied the customer data have not been fully catalogued in public summaries but are understood to contain additional operational information.
