The National Naval Aviation Museum is the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most-visited museums in the state of Florida. On April 18, 2024, the National Naval Aviation Museum appeared on the leak site of the Dispossessor ransomware group. Primary Disclosure Details

The Dispossessor leak site entry states the National Naval Aviation Museum, located in Pensacola, Florida, as a victim. It lists the incident under a ransomware classification and claims successful exfiltration of internal files. The museum’s own notification references a routine security audit that identified a possible data leak risk tied to its website infrastructure. No victim count, ransom amount, or detailed file inventory appears in the primary listing. The disclosure indicates the data is held for potential public release if demands are not met.

Why This Matters for You and Your Family

When a public institution like the National Naval Aviation Museum suffers a breach, anyone who has visited, donated, volunteered, or corresponded with the organization may have personal information at risk. Internal files often contain donor records, membership details, employee information, vendor contracts, and visitor correspondence. Even without an exact count, the exposure can include names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and in some cases dates of birth or financial details tied to donations. For military families, veterans, and aviation enthusiasts who interact with the museum, this creates a direct line from a seemingly harmless museum visit or donation to potential identity fraud or targeted scams.

Doxxing and Identity-Chain Risks

Stolen internal files rarely stay isolated. Attackers and subsequent data traders combine them with other breaches to build detailed profiles. An email address from a museum donor list can link to your social-media accounts, child’s school records, or spouse’s employment history. These chains accelerate doxxing, where one piece of information quickly reveals home addresses, phone numbers, and family relationships. Credential leaks from related systems can cascade into account takeovers, including gaming platforms used by children. Once handles and emails are connected to real identities, harassment, spear-phishing, and financial fraud become significantly easier.

Unverified claim — what this report is

This page documents a public listing on a ransomware/extortion group’s leak site, tracked via public threat-intelligence sources. A listing is the attacker’s claim. GalaxyWarden aggregates and reports such claims; we have not independently verified that a breach occurred, what data (if any) was taken, or the accuracy of anything the group asserts, and the named organisation has not necessarily confirmed the incident. Sections above describe what the listing shows and the group’s documented history — not verified findings about the named organisation. If you represent this organisation and believe anything here is inaccurate, tell us and we’ll review it promptly.

Editorial & sourcing policy

GalaxyWarden is a breach-monitoring service and news aggregator. We do not exfiltrate, host, purchase, or redistribute stolen data. Breach information is compiled from publicly accessible sources and threat-intelligence platforms, and is reported as claims attributed to their source. We promptly correct or remove material shown to be inaccurate — see our content & takedown policy or write to support@galaxywarden.com.
