CISA ICS Advisory: Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort
Here’s what this advisory affects, and what to do about it.
Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort contains multiple vulnerabilities in its project-file encryption and password handling mechanisms. A local attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities to extract the master key, allowing them to decrypt project data or remove project passwords. The lack of password salting enables offline dictionary or brute-force attacks against the password hashes. Successful exploitation could result in unauthorized access to, or modification of, sensitive project logic and configurations. Siemens has released a new version for LOGO! Soft Comfort and recommends to update to the l
CISA published an ICS advisory on August 13, 2026, warning that Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort contains multiple vulnerabilities in its project-file encryption and password handling mechanisms.

Project file encryption and password weaknesses
The advisory states that the software stores encryption keys and password hashes in a manner that allows a local attacker to extract the master key. Once obtained, the key can be used to decrypt protected project files or remove project passwords entirely. Because the implementation does not apply password salting, the hashes are also susceptible to offline dictionary and brute-force attacks.
Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to or modify sensitive project logic and configurations. The advisory does not state whether these vulnerabilities have been exploited in the wild.
Affected products
The vulnerabilities affect all versions of Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort prior to the newly released fixed version. No other Siemens products are named in the advisory.
What to do
- Update all installations of LOGO! Soft Comfort to the latest version released by Siemens.
- Inventory engineering workstations and confirm whether any versions of LOGO! Soft Comfort are present.
- Apply the specific mitigations and updated guidance published in the vendor’s security advisory.
- Monitor Siemens’ official product security channel for any additional updates or workarounds.
- Restrict local access to engineering workstations containing LOGO! project files to authorized personnel only.
Organizations operating industrial control systems or automation projects that rely on LOGO! Soft Comfort should treat this update as high priority, given the direct impact on the confidentiality and integrity of control logic.
