CISA ICS Advisory: Siemens Desigo DXR and PXC Controllers
Here’s what this advisory affects, and what to do about it.
A vulnerability in Desigo DXR and PXC controllers has been identified that could allow an attacker to cause denial of service conditions by sending malformed BACnet packets. Recovery requires a device reset or reboot to restore normal functionality. Siemens has released new versions for the affected products and recommends to update to the latest versions. The following versions of Siemens Desigo DXR and PXC Controllers are affected: Desigo DXR2 vers:intdot/ Desigo PXC3 vers:intdot/ Desigo PXC4 vers:intdot/ Desigo PXC5.E003 vers:intdot/ Desigo PXC5.E24 vers:intdot/ Desigo PXC7 vers:intdot/
CISA published an Industrial Control Systems advisory on August 13, 2026, warning that certain Siemens Desigo controllers contain a vulnerability that could allow denial of service via malformed BACnet packets.

Malformed BACnet Packet Denial of Service
The advisory states that an attacker can send specially crafted BACnet packets to trigger a denial of service condition on affected controllers. Successful exploitation could cause the device to stop responding, requiring a manual reset or reboot to restore normal operation. The advisory does not state whether the vulnerability has been exploited in the wild.
Affected Products
The following Siemens products are affected:
- Desigo DXR2
- Desigo PXC3
- Desigo PXC4
- Desigo PXC5.E003
- Desigo PXC5.E24
- Desigo PXC7
Siemens has developed updated versions for all listed products and recommends immediate upgrade.
What to Do
- Determine whether any Desigo DXR2, PXC3, PXC4, PXC5, or PXC7 controllers are present in your environment.
- Apply the updated firmware released by Siemens for the specific models in use.
- Until patching is complete, implement network segmentation and strict access controls for BACnet traffic to limit exposure to malformed packets.
- Monitor Siemens’ official product security channel for any additional guidance or further updates.
- Verify that all deployed controllers are running the latest available versions after remediation.
Organizations operating building automation and industrial control systems should prioritize this update to maintain availability of critical HVAC and environmental controls.
