On March 14, 2025, the accounting firm Caputo was listed on the leak site of the Akira ransomware group. The attackers claim to have stolen more than 20 GB of internal documents that include personal SSNs, driver licenses, employee and customer contact details, NDAs, contracts, financial audits, payment records, and corporate correspondence.

Public reporting indicates the firm provides small-business accounting, tax preparation, strategic planning, part-time CFO services, and loan-application support. The Akira group posted screenshots and descriptions of the allegedly exfiltrated material on its leak site, hosted via ransomware.live. No exact number of individuals affected has been confirmed, but the exposed data categories suggest both current and former employees as well as clients could be impacted. The group has threatened to publish the full archive if Caputo does not meet its demands.
