Key steps to lock down YouTube in 2026

  1. Go to YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Advanced settings.
  2. Set channel visibility to private or hide it entirely from search.
  3. Change individual video visibility to Private or Unlisted.
  4. Set Comments on your videos to Off or Approved comments only.
  5. Disable Show my subscriber count.
  6. Review your Comments history in your Google Account.
  7. Enable two-factor authentication on the underlying Google account using a hardware security key.
